GATHIGA CHILDREN'S HOPE HOME

About the Project:

Gathiga’s Children’s Hope Home was established in 1996 and is located in Gathiga, Kenya. Gathiga Hope Home supports children from the streets and rehabilitates them off of drugs and is currently home to 100 children, aged at 3 to 21. Many of the children who are shelteredat the home are addicted to drugs from living on the streets and as a tool to mask hunger. The children that are supported in Gathiga come from near hopeless and permanent situations facing neglect, disease, abuse, starvation and lack of affection, many of them being abandoned or orphaned on the streets. The children and youth at the home require a lot of affection and attention in order for them to beat there addiction and feel welcomed in a new home. Not only do they need to know they have somewhere to rely on other then the streets but they have a future to look forward to as Hope Home works towards increasing there lively hood and providing them with education for a successful future.
